FAI Fall Days: the ten places to visit on Lake Como

FAI Fall Days here are the ten places to visit on Lake Como.
Fall Fai Days are back
A new opportunity to visit FAI (Italian Environmental Fund) properties with respect for nature, art and history.
On Saturday, October 15 and Sunday, October 16, 2022, FAI will open seven hundred places in three hundred and fifty cities in Italy to the public. In the province of Como alone, there are as many as ten places to visit. Let’s see them together.
In Como, the Casartelli Science Museum located in a 1911 building near the lakefront. The building belongs to the University of Insubria in Como and the Carducci Institute in Como.
FAI Fall Days are an opportunity to visit the Nobel Hall
The museum room preserves science, physics, chemistry and biology teaching materials.
Como’s Pinacoteca Civica, inside the walled city along Via Diaz. The building that houses it was built in the decade 1622-1633. It houses pictorial and sculptural works from the Middle Ages to the contemporary period. There is also a library specializing in art and three storage rooms, where more than eight hundred paintings are kept.
Cermenate is a place of historic mansions and gardens.
The interiors of Villa Clerici, now the town hall, will be open for tours. The courtyards of the private properties Villa Coquio and Villa Rospini will also be open.
In Lipomo during the FAI Fall Days you can visit the headquarters of Caffè Milani

The entire industrial complex offers a distinctive architecture, with articulated volumes that seem to follow the morphology of the land. Caffè Milani ranks among the prominent contemporary elements in the landscape. It was born in 1934, with Celestino Milani and his café in the center of Como. In just three years it became a small roasting company. During the 1960s, Pierluigi Milani turned it into the famous industry it is today and moved its headquarters to Lipomo.

In Tremezzina, opposite the Isola Comacina, you can visit the Torre del Soccorso known as the Barbarossa Tower.
The fortification is clearly distinguishable among the rich vegetation of Mount Gravona thanks to its imposing quadrangular Moltrasio stone mole.
Torre del Soccorso was part of a complex fortified system. The same included the castle on Isola Comacina and the defensive structures of Sala, Lezzeno and Cavagnola.
We have already talked about Villa del Balbianello on the occasion of the FAI Spring Days.
In Valsolda, Frazione Oria, Villa Fogazzaro-Roi place of Antonio Fogazzaro’s soul will be open to the public.
The bourgeois mansion, owned by the illustrator’s mother, was elected by him as a vacation retreat. It fully evokes the atmosphere of his Little Ancient World.
Finally, in the beautiful village of Argegno, there are no less than three sites to visit. The ancient road to Sant’Anna, the Church of Sant’Anna, and Villa Emma.
Argegno on the western shore of Lake Como, is a historic village with a medieval structure.
It is articulated in alleys, stairways, and arcades and has a distinctly touristic feel.
Argegno, with its clubs, lido and a lakefront, offers immersive and spectacular views. It is a highly sought-after destination.
It is in this landscape of admirable beauty, and in the magic of this fjord of ours between the foothills of the Alps, that the most discerning and exclusive clients seek quiet and privacy just a step away from the mundane

In Muronico, in fact, which is just above Argegno, we propose an elegant and majestic period villa. The mansion, measuring 890 sqm, is immersed in the greenery of its private park of 2000 sqm.
The villa, standing great luxury, is on three floors, plus tavern and attic. In the park, in addition to the swimming pool, there is a second villa, on two floors. Given the prime location, the view is priceless.
